THE SCULPTURAL CABINETS OF LUCAS RISE ARTIST RECEPTION & CARNIVAL CELEBRATION A BIG TOP, ROASTED PEANUTS, JUGGLERS, TROUBADOURS & BEER

JUNE 3, 2010  6 – 9 PM

Weighing in at over 3,000 lbs and comprising years of arduous, exacting work – the sculptural cabinets of Lucas Risé will arrive from Buenos Aires with the subtlety of a circus coming to town. These monumental pieces represent work that spans across a decade.

Ranging from South American Colonial dressers in oak to a 1920’s antique American refrigerator, the base of these cabinets is just the beginning. Risé sculpts using thousands of individually hand cut and painted pieces, each nailed into place to create a mosaic that challenges the viewer to explore their physical dimension. Look at them head on, from the side or top-down – the view will never be the same. Each piece conveys a keen understanding not only of design and composition, but also of mathematics and physics.

EXHIBITION RUNS JUNE 3 – 30th, 2010
