RAWsalt: The Luminous Sea by Robert Porte

Light and form are merely the jumping off points for Porte‘s bold deconstructions of what can be interpreted as the ocean – but one cannot be too sure. What you see is what you get, only with Porte‘s work what you get changes every time you set new eyes on his work. Highly influenced by film and photography, Porte created these lush seascapes on small copper panels, revealing through a series of seemingly violently reductive strokes the reflective surface below. The result is something between representation and abstraction.

Robert Porte has shown his work both nationally and internationally, most recently in Berlin Germany. Porte returns to Portland Oregon in early March.
