RAWsalt | Sally Deng + Glynnis Reed: Wild / / West

April 7 – May 31, 2016

Sally Deng

Sally Deng grew up in a dual existence between living for months in China and traveling back to downtown Los Angeles where her family owned a diner. This presence of opposites coming together is a recurring theme in Deng’s work, through which she creates thoughtful environments in which she is able to harmonize between polarized elements. Realizing that just about anything can be an art tool, she mixes various media including digital. She is set to receive her BFA from Art Center College of Design in 2016.

Glynnis Reed

Born in Los Angeles, California and currently lives and works in Southern New Jersey, Glynnis Reed’s work has moved progressively from exploring urban landscape to how human beings curate nature through public parks and architecture that recalls the natural world. She uses photography in highly non-traditional ways, always seeking to break down the barrier between the viewer and the subject. Her photo collages recall images of spiritual mandalas and the idea that we can find peace in the chaos of city life if we know where to look.
