New works of painting, photography and installation by Aníbal Catalan
May 2 – June 30, 2013
Opening reception May 2, 2013 from 6 – 9 pm
Trained as an architect, Mexican artist Aníbal Catalan draws tremendous influence from the stark sensibilities of the Russian Constructivists. Working in a variety of different mediums, Catalan forms chaos out of order by feeding his unique structural renderings through a series of CAD programs, breaking them down into new forms that take on the random quality of the natural world. The artist translates these unique pieces into site-specific installations, paintings, drawings and even intervened Polaroids, combining all elements into exhibitions that bridge the gap between the 2 dimensional and the 3 dimensional.
