A recent trip with their families and friends to Yosemite National Park combined with a summer spent surfing Los Angeles beaches after which they would return to the city to continue working created a perfect microcosm of life in Southern California. For Chen the result is a flurry of organic surrealism and for Deng it is whimsy based in reality. In the midst of the urban sprawl are grand vistas of natural beauty expressed through a series of works that are dynamic & fun as they are thoughtful.
