IMMERSIVE LANDSCAPES | Victoria MacMillan

In Victoria MacMillan’s work, two elements reign perspective and color. Purposefully choosing the colors of expansive flower fields, her canvases radiate the kind of beauty that can be achieved when the artist directly collaborates with nature. In a review of her work in the SoCal publication Art & Cake, critic Evan Senn writes, “Victoria MacMillan’s large-scale landscape paintings are immersive and surreal. Like moss growing by a still body of water, bright colors creep into MacMillan’s landscapes slowly, first at the edges and then gradually consuming every surface in colorful ecstasy.”

As a resident of Newport Beach, MacMillan has dedicated the past 5 years of her practice to immersing herself in the local urban and natural interests of Los Angeles and Orange County. Painting both plein air and in-studio, the works are genuine homages to the landscape with surreal touches in her use of color and brushstroke.
