Possibly the most exciting aspect of the trip is the opportunity to travel beyond the sanctioned tourist center of downtown Havana and into the neighborhoods that house the studios of artists Abel Barroso, Esterio Segura, Ernesto Javier Fernandez, William Perez and Marlys Fuego, Aimee Garcia and Carlos Montes, Mabel Poblet, Jorge y Larry & Yornell Martinez, Co-Op 331, Os Ortega and Lisandra Ramirez and Roberto Diago.

VISITS TO RENOWNED SITES OF CUBAN ART & CULTURE

The artisan market at the old port and see the current craft production in Cuba.

Cuba’s national arts university of visual and performing arts, Instituto Superior de Arte. See the incredible architecture of this campus, meet the emerging artists and see their work in the printmaking, painting, sculpture and ceramics studios.

Museo Nacional, Palacio de Bellas Artes. Enjoy a special guided tour through the fine arts museum dedicated exclusively to Cuban art.

Centro de Arte Contemporaneo Wifredo Lam is an institution for the research and promotion of contemporary visual art focusing on Africa, Asia, Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean. The center also promotes the work of Wifredo Lam, one of the most remarkable artists of the twentieth century.   

Museo de la Revolución. The Museum of the Revolution  is a museum located in the Old Havana section of Havana, Cuba. The museum is housed in what was the Presidential Palace of all Cuban presidents from Mario García Menocal to Fulgencio Batista. It became the Museum of the Revolution during the years following the Cuban revolution.

Taller Experimental de Gráfica. See the works of multiple print makers in this historic lithography studio.

Hershey Family Sugarcane Plantation. An entire town designed to resemble a typical American suburb was built by the Hersey Family for its employees in pre-revolutionary Cuba. Tour the old factory and the town that shows the fascinating spectrum of outside perceptions and influence.

FOOD

DAY 1: Enjoy mojitos and a welcome dinner at the Melia Cohiba.

DAY 2: Lunch at La Moneda, a traditional restaurant-paladar with the warmth of a private Cuban home situated in the center  of the colonial Old Havana. Studio visit to Esterio Segura includes drinks and appetizers. Dinner at Estarbien a gorgeous and authentic atmosphere with great seafood.

DAY 3: A fun and atmospheric lunch at El Aljibe. Open and airy with a thatched roof and cool Caribbean vibe, El Aljibe has a mojito waiting and the suggestion is their world famous chicken. Dinner at the stylish Café Laurent surrounded by beautiful tiles and décor with a stunning view of the setting sun. Varadero

DAY 4: Travel to the beach for a vibe of seafood and relaxation exploring the local dishes of the seaside town of Varadero.

DAY 5: After returning from the beach a lunch at La California will set the tone for the bright graciousness of Havana with traditional Cuban fair served with well-known flare and artful presentation. Dinner time is free time and guests are sent off into the city to explore and see what new restaurants they can discover for themselves (with suggestions).
DAY 6: Lunch at the always bustling Atelier paladar known for their varied and creative menu. This place is a popular destination and the dining room is always full. Dinner that night at the paladar Mediteraneo.
DAY 7: A bright and flavorful traditional lunch at Ajiaco and dinner at Rio Mar known for stunning view situated right at the mouth of the river and serving excellent seafood.
